Bees have been a big part of my paintings for years now and the name “Melissa," translates to honey bee. The Melissae were said to be prophets and oracles and held secret knowledge. They are divine messengers. Spiritually, bees are often linked with rejuvenation, divinity, and the mysteries of the natural world. The Melissa shapeshift between the physical and spiritual realms. They are associated with life's sweetness and virtue.
