Saint Luke wrote the gospel of Mercy. He was a scholar with an investigative spirit that led him everywhere that Jesus lived. Luke was an artist and legends say that that it was Luke who painted the famous Czechoslovakian Black Madonna onto the kitchen table top, from the home of the Holy family.
Struggling financially has been a big part of my life. At one point my husband suggested that I paint Saint Luke, since he is the Patron Saint of Artists. So I did, and I wrote a little prayer at the bottom:
“Saint Luke – Please shine your sweet light on the work of all artists. We ask for your help to gain sustainance. Let us flourish under your blessings as all we create is in praise and gratitude to the Holy. May the spirit of mercy and healing always guide our hands.”
