I grew up with images of Eve cowering in fear, running away, hiding herself. Something in me never believed that story—but I was effected by it. Negative imagery is like a virus that gets into our cells. It has a direct impact on how we move through the world. Counter to that, positive imagery is like a medicine that can help in replacing old negative ideas. So here, is my new Eve: An elder woman, at peace, who’s has befriended her world. She’s not fearful. She is strong, beautiful and able to take on any problem—or joy—that comes her way. I’ve been thinking that, “now,” is the perfect time to re-vision the stories that have oppressed us.
