Saint Brigid of Kildare, Ireland, often has her identity questioned, as to whether or not she was actually just a morphed version of the great Celtic Goddess Brigid, or an actual woman who walked the earth. I myself, prefer the human, to the Goddess, because I like to believe that we as humans, are capable of magnificent things. What Brigid is most known for is her kindness, and generosity towards the poor. She is also credited with dreaming Spring into being (what a marvelous skill to have!) And when she was told that her church could occupy only as much land as her cloak could cover, her cloak spread out across all of Kildare! These stories are fantastical, but what they tell us is this: Her people believed that she could do anything with her great heart—and so can we.
